UW farming, ranger style
A friend of mine came up with this idea, it's not that original but you know, it works.
So if you wanted to farm the uw with your ranger, but you think trapping is boring, this may interest you
Here is the build:
R/E:
[skill]Storm Chaser[/skill][skill]Stone Striker[/skill][skill]Stoneflesh Aura[/skill][skill]Sandstorm[/skill][skill]Glyph of Concentration[/skill][skill]Earthquake[/skill][skill]Aftershock[/skill]
Optionnal Slot:
Troll ungent
Edge of extinction (in this case, drop WS by 1, put the points in beast mastery, and get a minor rune)
Wilderness: 12+1+3
Earth: 12
Any +20%enchant weapon, that's all you need, all other mods are up to you.
An earth staff is best, since you can wand dying nightmares to death and have a 20% enchant on it.
You recognize the build? Yeah the Ele farming one. Well there is not much difference. You have more armor, get +5 energy on each hit (granted you remember to maintain storm chaser), that's it.
The last skill was troll ungent during our tests, but you don't need it as long as stoneflesh aura is up. The kill chain is fast enough so you don't have to recast it normally.
I don't know if it's faster than the ele one or warriors, or whatever. This is mainly for the people who want to farm ectos with their rangers.
Some useful infos:
- Keep Stoneflesh aura up at all time when fighting. You won't last long without it.
- The kill chain is Sandstorm, Earthquake, Aftershock.
You could use skills like Dust trap before you agro so you blind foes, but I'm not sure it wouldn't cause scatter...
- You don't use expertise (which doesn't apply on spells anyway), your energy management is Storm Chaser combined with Stone Striker. Remember to keep them up.
- You don't fight Aatxes. Only Grasping Darknesses, and Smite crawlers. During our tests we skiped the Coldfire Nights, therefore I can't tell you if you can survive them. Troll ungent may be usefull in this case. I don't know. If you happen to try, please leave your experience.
- If a dying nightmare pops up, wand it to death.
- Use your glyph before aggroing graspings, to avoid interruptions.
- If you go with EoE, in the first chamber, place your spirit behind Benton and aggro the group on the left first. Then move on the 2 groups on the right and place your spirit by the left stairs.
- Additionnal infos can be found in this thread:

It seems that The.D0pefish had the same idea before my friend, and he posted that in another thread. there is some useful notes in the following discution, so have a look.
- Have fun!

i don't think this is stolen in any way i just wanted to show, that eoe might be a good option for the optional slot

Actually, R/E isn't same as E/R. Primary attribute, AR and energy regeneration are pretty important differences.
Nice build, any chances for a video?

About EoE, I'm not sure that foes killed by eoe drop things for you... added to the optionnal slot list anyway.

No, just like the ele farming build, you can't outrun the bulls. Plus, you only got a 25% boost, they have +33%.

Let me know if you find any success in HM. I'm trying to find a build that can atleast do the smite run in HM with a warrior, ranger, dervish or monk. If you know of any good builds to solo HM the UW please let me know.
Thanks! And great build on this one. I will try when i get home tonight.

Thanks! I've tried it with VWK W/Rt to no avail. Not sure if it's impossible but certainly not as easy as normal mode VWK smite run in UW. That's a nice easy run but the white drops suck. Woud be great to get some decent drops in HM.

Any ranger will know how to place an EOE safely prior to aggroing, the squiddies can be easily pulled and a solid aggro lock established one group at a time as well so no problem. If you want a hand though, try dropping EOE at the back spirits and aggroing the first group on the stairs, rinse and repeat.

So I just want to correct one thing, the EoE is not good for this build because you aggros graspings to you so if they kill the EoE spirit, that's bad
For a video, yes i can make one if you want.
And for hard mode, no it can't work i think (i hav'nt tried yet) but in HM, aatxes don't back to their first position same with storm chaser, so that's hard i think but i can try.

just place the EoE behind a Spirit or a stair and block the mobs, so that they can't reach the eoe
